Proposal to Reward KZG Ceremony Participants in the Linea Airdrop

Introduction The Ethereum community has always been driven by innovation, decentralization, and collective contributions. One of the most significant recent collective efforts was the KZG Ceremony, which played a crucial role in enabling proto-danksharding and improving the scalability of Ethereum.

Many Layer 2 (L2) protocols, including Linea, encouraged participation in the ceremony to help secure the future of Ethereum and reduce transaction fees for L2 solutions. Given this, I propose that participants who contributed to the KZG Ceremony and hold the KZG POAP should be rewarded in the upcoming Linea airdrop.

Why Should KZG Ceremony Participants Be Rewarded?

  1. They Contributed to the Foundation of L2 Scalability:
  • The KZG Ceremony was a crucial step toward making proto-danksharding a reality, which directly benefits Linea and other L2 solutions by enabling lower fees and greater scalability.
  • Without these participants, Ethereum’s roadmap toward sharding and improved data availability would be significantly delayed.
  1. Decentralized and Open Contribution:
  • Total contributions: 141,416 individuals contributed, ensuring that no single entity controlled the process, thus reinforcing the decentralization ethos that Ethereum and L2s like Linea stand for.
  • Many of these contributors participated purely out of commitment to Ethereum’s future, without expecting immediate rewards. Recognizing their effort would honor their dedication.
  1. Alignment with Linea’s Mission:
  • Linea has positioned itself as a community-driven L2 solution, and rewarding contributors to the Ethereum ecosystem aligns with its values.
  • Supporting those who have helped the broader Ethereum network also incentivizes future participation in critical community-driven security and scaling initiatives.
  1. Historical Precedent and Fairness:
  • Other airdrop strategies have rewarded
Pudgy Penguins NFT holders but KZG Ceremony Poap NFT holders fall within this category as they actively helped improve Ethereum’s infrastructure.
  • Recognizing their contributions reinforces a culture of rewarding meaningful participation in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Implementation Suggestion:

  • The KZG POAP is an on-chain verifiable credential proving participation in the ceremony.
  • A portion of the Linea airdrop allocation could be set aside for verified 83607 KZG POAP holders.
  • I propose that KZG POAP holders receive multipliers on their existing Linea eligibility, while other KZG participants receive a fixed allocation based on the upcoming Ethereum upgrade (EIP-4844).
  • The exact fixed amount could be 48.44 tokens, 484.4 tokens, or 4844 tokens, with the final decision left to the Linea team.
  • This would ensure that those who helped build the future of Ethereum and Linea are acknowledged and rewarded for their efforts.

Doing so Linea would not only honor those who contributed to Ethereum’s scaling future but also reinforce the importance of decentralized and community-driven efforts. Let’s acknowledge those who helped lay the foundation for a more scalable Ethereum by ensuring they are part of Linea’s future.

I welcome discussion and feedback on this proposal and look forward to hearing thoughts from the community and the Linea team.

Thank you for your consideration!
