Community Proposal: Apply Pressure Where It Matters
1.Communicating with Declan or Discord moderators is ineffective. As Christopher himself stated
2. Joseph Lubin and ConsenSys hold all decision-making power. The Linea community must speak up—publicly.
3.If enough of us call out @ethereumJoseph on Twitter, it could force a response and possibly speed up the resolution.
4.We’ve supported this project with loyalty and patience for years. The continued silence, delays, and lack of transparency are unacceptable.
5.Enough is enough. It’s time to act.
This is the most disappointing situation I could have imagined for Linea.
Facts:
- Joseph Lubin is the founder of ConsenSys.
- ConsenSys owns both MetaMask and Linea.
- Joseph Lubin and ConsenSys heavily implied a MetaMask airdrop, leading many in the community to spend significantly on swaps and bridges—often incurring fees 10x higher than average. To this day, no airdrop has been delivered.
- Similarly, the Linea community has been subjected to high transaction fees for over two years—especially before the Dencun upgrade—mirroring the same “milking” strategy seen with MetaMask.
- The Linea XP (LXP) campaign has demanded an unreasonable number of tasks, with over 150 required transactions—far more than comparable crypto projects.
- After the Linea Park campaign, the community anticipated a Token Generation Event (TGE). Instead, they were met with the rollout of LXP-L and additional “SZN” quests, which many perceive as pointless.
- Community sentiment strongly expected a TGE at the end of the Linea Surge campaign in late November to early December 2024, coinciding with Bitcoin’s all-time high and a bullish market.
- According to Christopher (Marketing Lead, via Discord), the original plan was for a TGE in late November 2024. It was then delayed to Q1 2025.
- Now, the TGE appears to be delayed indefinitely. Linea has announced they will not provide updates until a clear decision is made.
- Christopher (Marketing Lead) has since left the project.
- Linea has lacked transparency since the testnet phase and continues to treat its community poorly.
