, in an effort to continue pushing higher Linea’s maximum throughput, we will transition over the next few weeks towards a block time of 2sec with a block size of 24M. (currently 3sec 30M).
This will effectively increase max throughput by 20% and improve user experience. Rollout will happen on the week of the June 3 for Sepolia followed by Mainnet on the week of June 10. No action is needed for anyone running a node. Let us know if you have any questions!
Note: we don’t expect block size reduction to have negative impact. We’ve analyzed that only 800tx were larger than 24M gas since network launch. If you think this might impact you please reach out to us.
