Linea: What After TGE?

I initially shared my ideas about the airdrop, and now it’s time to move on to the question: What’s next? What happens after TGE/airdrop?

A well-executed airdrop can make the community happy and loyal to the project or L2, ensuring that existing users stay engaged. That’s why I’m eager for Linea to grow exponentially after TGE! We’ve already discussed how to design a fair and effective airdrop, and now it’s time to focus on finding meaningful utility for the token, most likely $LINEA.

Let’s get started.

Basic Features:

  • DAO/governance: Allow token holders to participate in decision-making.
  • Staking: Potentially, but what will the APR look like?
  • **Reserve tokens for future incentives:**Allocate a portion of $LINEA tokens to reward developers and users contributing to the ecosystem’s growth. This can include multiple rounds of airdrops (e.g., like Optimism’s second, third, and fourth rounds) as well as targeted grants or bounties.

What Else Can We Introduce?

  • Token integration for crypto collateral: Integrate $LINEA as collateral in platforms like Mendi, Zerolend, or Aave immediately post-TGE to reduce sell pressure.
  • Programmatic token burning: Implement automatic burning of a portion of tokens from transactions or fees to control inflation and enhance value.
  • Fee payment options: Allow users to pay transaction fees with $LINEA (similar to zkSync or Starknet). Alternatively, develop a feature like the MetaMask gas station.
  • Gamification: Use tokens in internal games or other interactive activities to attract a broader audience.
  • Fee discounts: Provide reduced (or 0%) transaction fees when using the MetaMask card in conjunction with $LINEA staking.
  • Layer3 deployment requirement: Require staking a certain amount of $LINEA to deploy L3 projects on Linea.
  • **Liquidity incentives:**Offer boosts for projects that add liquidity to pairs involving $LINEA.
  • Staking for whitelists (WL): Introduce access to early-stage project sales/launches by staking $LINEA. (Legal considerations in jurisdictions like the US need to be addressed, but the idea holds promise.)
  • Staking for local airdrops: Staking $LINEA to become eligible for airdrops from local projects – an exciting and potentially bullish idea!
  • Open platform for funding: Create a platform similar to Gitcoin Grants or Kickstarter, where users can fund projects in the ecosystem using $LINEA tokens.
  • Community-driven sub-DAOs: Establish sub-DAOs for specific initiatives, enabling token integration in localized or niche projects.
  • DeFi campaigns: Launch a DeFi-focused event (similar to zkSync Ignite, Starknet’s DeFi Spring, or The Taiko Liquidity Royale).
  • **Real-world asset (RWA) integration:**Explore opportunities to bring RWAs onto Linea

Beyond Token Utility:

In addition to defining token utility, we must explore ways to support both existing and new projects. This could include marketing campaigns, liquidity assistance, advisory services, technical support, and more. Such measures would encourage both new and existing users to engage with the blockchain.

This is just a call for ideas and dialogue. Let’s strive to make Linea the best it can be for all of us!
